Great to see you back on the 'net, super pics too, brings back memories of work in Southampton when the cruise ships, PO cable layers and ferries had their radios, radars, gyros and echo sounders fixed by Redifon at Queens Terrace.
I hasten to add that I was only an assistant to Bob Banks the resident engineer, missed by all who knew him.

Keep up the good work.
I did 5 years with NZSCo, Port Line, United Baltic Co and Trinity House. Had a great time and still miss the sea.
Been in the construction industry since then, now a building surveyor, retiring soon. You seem to have done a lot and still on tugs. I'm thinking of a narrowboat for when I retire, I fancy wandering the canals in the summer and working on my son's house in France in the winter.

If this reaches you, drop me a line and best wishes.

I I wouldn't go back there, but they made me an offer to good to refuse. Can't progress our plans this year anyhow (various family reasons).

I know where the GU is it was my playground as a nipper.
We often take a visit round Linslade area as Fiona lives in Luton.

Also terribly sorry to hear you're going back to wet work Geoff but jolly glad its got ship picture potential. If you're at a loose end with the dredger then we could use you on the Grand Union (up Thames then turn right at Brentford I think).

Good to see you back on the air mate.
Was that you there back in 19xx?
Oh happy days, oh happy daze.

Back to Geoff - keep the pictures coming, I'm missing Kent and east Sussex terribly. Any pictures of the wooden houses up the east end of Hastings? Is the windmill still there in Rye?
And if you're ever passing Northiam take some shots of the village for me, spent some hot summers and warm winters there as a lad.

My grandad lived in Hastings, and trips on the funicular, to Fairlight, and train rides to Dungeness were always a happy memory. Other things: the museum where we always rushed to see the stuffed spoonbill (is is still there I wonder?), the fishing sheds, and Bottle Alley.

Aah - happy days.

In response to:Semi Retired

Tis grand seeing you back on the blog.

I like the pics, Hastings railway reminded me of the caves half way up that we paid a couple of pence to visit. Years later someone opened a club inside and the price went up.

Happy New Year!!
You've certainly got a knack of spotting the right angle on everything you shoot so I'm not complaining.
I just wish I could 'see' the same thing when I look through the hole in the back of my Brownie.

Didn't see any Thames barges in the latest batch. Wassa marrer wiv you, can't you take commissions (unpaid ones I'm afraid).

Just forget the garden and do what you're good at. Snap - snap.
Not on the boat? then get up to Deal and take some piccues of those Thames barges before they all disappear. They are still there aren't they? They were when I last visited in 1980.

Glad you're back at the wheel/autopilot, I'll be that much sadder the day you finish but I guess they don't take too kindly to sailors with walking sticks and you do have to go sometime.

Hope you've got those narrowboat plans started.
