20th April 2007
We set off from Send at about 0730hrs the morning was as still as the previous evening and a mist was laying on the surface of the river, quite a beautiful sight which my pics dont do justice, but there here nevertheless.
the first one is at Worsfold Gates which are only used when the river is in flood.

The next two are just on sections of the river as we made our way to Guildford.

It was a lovely morning to finish of our holiday and tinged with the usual sadness that we would soon be rejoining the real world. Haze spent time between locks finishing the packing.

She was also busy at the locks and by now quite profficient so the passage went smoothly. We were the only boat on the move and most of the locks were in our favour, the one exception being Bowers Lock. We didn't mind too much as it is one of the most picturesque settings for a lock on the river.

It took about 3 hours to get to Guildfords Town Wharf with it's sculpture of an old boatman.

One more lock and we arrived back at the boatyard, we were about 2 hours overdue but nobody complained. We soon loaded the car and set off for home. It always seems strange to me that on the river or canal I can be so chilled out and relaxed most of the time, yet back in the car and it's not long before I join the throng wound up, aggresive driving, bad tempered, the whole bit. I even make a conscious effort not to but it soon fails. The solution must be leave the rat race, we'll find out before to long I hope.
