On nights this weekend but such a lovely morning we decided to go for a walk. Drove down to Seabrook and started our ramble up through Sandy Lane woods to Shornecliffe Camp.
A little way into the woods we came across this impromptu memorial to a young lad killed when he lost control of his motorbike and hit a tree.

He is obviously sadly missed by his friends, 20 years old RIP Chris.
At the top of the hill is the Shornecliffe Military Cemetary today bathed in sunshine.

Many Canadian soldiers are buried here, victims of the 1st World War. Sad to say that the killing still goes on, 6 Canadians dying in Afghanistan this very day, one day perhaps the human race will learn to live with itself, or am I being utopian?
On a brighter note after noting the ending of lives everywhere, new life was raising it's head. We saw our first Bluebells of the year.

Lots of birds and bees so the cycle continues. The first stickybuds so all will be well next conker season.

Then just before Hythe we saw this calf, very uncooperative with my camera, and I would think only a few days old.

So all in all we enjoyed our time in the countryside and feel envious of all the boaters whose blogs we follow.
We will join you all on the water Friday next for a week so look forward to that.
